Cabaret La Boop

Cabaret La Boop was a 1996 Brazilian live-action musical show featuring Doriana Mendes as Betty Boop.

According to Doriana Mendes the star of the show, the first musical performance was set a presentation on channel SBT, better known as Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão in 1996.

The presentation was part of the promotion of the musical Cabaret La Boop, playing in Rio de Janeiro, 15 years before the production on the Broadway stage.

In the same year, not too long after, Doriana Mendes appeared in a musical Who Framed Roger Rabbit skit on the Brazilian TV show Nao Fuja da Raia. For this show Mendes who took on Betty Boop’s persona teamed up with Cláudia Raia. Raia took on the role of Walt Disney Studios’ femme fatale Jessica Rabbit.

Other characters Raia portrayed on the show were Julie Andrews, Hattie McDaniel, Shirley Temple and Carmen Miranda.

For those that do not know of Cláudia Raia. In her earlier career she was known to be more or a real life Jessica Rabbit. When cosplaying Jessica for Nao Fuja da Raia, it would seem that Raia resembles that of a drag queen, this is because that is what Jessica Rabbit emulates, which is that of an over-exaggerated caricature of a woman.
